THE UA DESIGNED AN APP TO ALLOW DEAF, LOW VISION OR DYSLEXIA PEOPLE TO TAKE NOTES
Ability Connect is the new free application for Apple that was created the University of Alicante (UA) with the support of the Vodafone Spain Foundation to collaborate in the innovation of accessible technologies to improve the integration of people with disabilities.
The app allows a partner to take notes on a pro iPad, deaf, low vision or dyslexia people can view them on their device and save them via Bluetooth, Wi-Fi or mobile data. Its objective is to offer inclusive learning opportunities to all students.
With this application, the user can set the background and color text to improve the contrast, change the size and the font to be able to read the content better. People with low vision or dyslexia can also select text with ‘word by word’ so that it appears on screen and makes reading easier. In addition, the user can rewind, pause and advance manually.
This app can also be used for language translation and subtitling events.
THE VEGA’S CHRIST COOPERATIVE PRESENTS ITS YOUNG WINES IN THE FIRST ACCESSIBLE TASTING
This Thursday, at the Torre del Vino Museum, the Cristo de la Vega Cooperative has presented the first tasting accessible thanks to the Interpreter of Sign Language Lidia Lacalle.
The objective of the company is to make some wines accessible in terms of tasting because there is no winery with so much prestige that has its tastings interpreted in LSE for people with hearing loss. The video of the tasting will be in their web and any social networks to watch the interpretation in LSE.
In addition, a new sign was created to name the Yugo brand. The sign is similar to the victory sign – but with the index and annular fingers forming a ‘V’ – but down.
