IBUPROFENO PRODUCES DEAFNESS

The American Journal of Epidemiology warns in one of its studies that problems can arise due to excessive intake of ibuprofen.

A research has been carried out with more than 55.000 women between the ages of 44 and 69, and it was found that those who had taken the drug for more than six years, had up to 10% more risk of hearing loss.

Doctors warn to control the consumption of ibuprofen because it is not completely safe.


MORE THAN HALF MILLION VALENCIANS CAN CLAIM MORTGAGE EXPENSES

More than 120.000 families who settled their loans in the last four years can also join the demands to the Supreme Court.

The ruling states that banks must face part of the costs of formalizing mortgages affecting more than half a million Valencians.

For a mortgage of 150.000 euros signed between 2006 and 2013 it would mean about 3.000 euros of return savings per client.

Most banks in the Region of Valencia have already begun to change the clauses of their contracts to share service expenses and avoid future demands.

Collective claims are already being prepared by the major consumer associations.


GANDIA BECOMES THE WORLD HEADQUARTER OF VIDEO GAMES THIS WEEKEND

Gandia University is once again the host of Global Game Jam, a global event for the collaborative development of video games, which takes place this weekend simultaneously throughout the world.

The cost of Gandia Game Jam is 20 euros and you can register through its website.

No previous training or experience is required to participate, but the minimum age is 18 years old. Global Game Jam has offices in more than 600 countries.

The meeting is aimed at people interested in the development of video games (programming, graphic design, script, music, …) who want to learn and have fun, collaborating with other people to create a project. The theme is chosen by the organization and it is the same one in all the venues of the world and the video game has to be completed within 48 hours.


THE EMT IS 31 YEARS OLD

In January 1986, the Valencia City Council and the Valencia Public Transport Workers’ Union (SALTUV) reached an agreement to set up the Municipal Transport Company of Valencia, with 1.109 workers and 335 buses. Nowadays the workforce is of 1.465 employees and they own 480 buses.

The EMT has produced a commemorative video in which the workers celebrate the 31st anniversary and the video shows the daily life of the EMT.


THE COLD WEATHER INCREASES THE ELECTRICITY BILL: 100 EUROS MORE PER YEAR

Last Wednesday the Minister of Energy, Tourism and Digital Agenda, Álvaro Nadal, announced that filling the gas tank will be more expensive and that the electricity bill will increase more than 100 euros per year.

Nadal has stated that the highest cost of electricity bill has been reached for several reasons: the cold weather, the lack of rain and wind and the increase of oil products in the agreement between the OPEP and the other countries, and with the strike of part of the French nuclear park.

In addition, Nadal mentions that actions could be taken by the Government to reduce prices. In fact, the Government has requested a report to from the National Commission on Markets and Competition (CNMC), to find out what can be done to moderate prices.
